BOE expects best year for UK economy since 1941

The governor of Bank of England said on Thursday he was thankful the UK economy was expected to have a "very strong recovery" after the bank forecast the fastest annual pace of growth for the British economy since early on in World War II. Governor of Bank of England, Andrew Bailey said "It is a very strong recovery and, you know, thank goodness in a way because of what we went through last year with an unprecedented fall in activity in the economy."

The coronavirus pandemic saw the UK suffer its worst recession in over 300 years. But the UK economy is projected to grow by 7.25% in 2021, up from the bank's previous forecast of 5%.
