Celebrating Tradition: Bago Shwemawdaw Pagoda Festival attracts crowd of visitors

The 2,606th Buddha Pujaniya Festival at Bago Sutaungpyaye Shwemawdaw Pagoda is underway, attracting visitors from across the country with its array of festivities.
Crowds gather to partake in various activities and theatrical plays, marking this annual event as a highlight following Thingyan.
The festival is crowded with festive comers from all across the country, enjoying the various fun activities and theatrical play.
Visitor, Hsu Shwe Yi said "Since this is the annual pagoda festival after Thingyan, we visit here with our friends to enjoy the festivities. We enjoyed the various fun activities. This year’s festival attracts more crowd than the previous year. "
Visitor, Myat Myat Nwe said "I came from Thanutpin to enjoy the pagoda festival. All our villagers hired a car to visit here. It’s really joyful festival. We visit every year. "
The festival features good deeds programmes, selling goods, and fun activities with a large number of visitors, including an offering ceremony of rice and other offerings to Sayadaws.
Win Oo, Shwemawdaw PagodaFestival, Information In-Charge said "We provide convenient arrangements for the visitors. The pagoda festival provides donations for offering gold foil to the full circumference of the pagoda every five year. We welcome visitors from this annual festival. "
The festival continues till the 28th of April with collective offering of donations to 500 members of the Sangha On the full moon day of Tagu.
