Curtain rises on 18th Changchun Film Festival

The 18th China Changchun Film Festival (CCFF) kicked off on the evening of August 28 with a lot of Chinese filmmakers and stars attending the opening ceremony.

Ten awards, including for best film, director, actor and actress, and best screenplay, will be presented during the festival. The judging panel is led by renowned Chinese filmmaker Huang Jianxin and includes director Zheng Dasheng, cinematographer Zhao Fei, actress Yu Nan, actor Zhu Yawen, scriptwriter Guo Junli and musician Shu Nan.

A total of 15 films have been entered into the final competition for the Golden Deer, the award for best film, including the science fiction blockbuster "The Wandering Earth II" and historical comedy thriller "Full River Red."

A range of events will be held to boost the interaction and cooperation between the film industry and culture and tourism organizations. The 18th CCFF will run until September 2.
