Two people have died while more than 800 other people have been isolated after a landslide occurred in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, Viet Nam early Monday morning.

Authorities said the landslide broke a 40-metre suspension bridge in Thượng Sơn Commune, isolating over 200 households with over 800 residents.

Many roads have been covered by rocks and soil falling from surrounding mountains, blocking traffic.A National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control report said that heavy rains and flooding between July 2 and 4 in the region damaged 74 houses and over 630 hectares of crops.
