Hollywood Walk of Fame, William Friedkin passed away

William Friedkin, 87, died on Monday who was the groundbreaking US director of "The Exorcist" and "The French Connection.

He passed away in Los Angeles after suffering unspecified health issues in recent years.

He was among a influential young "New Hollywood" directors in the 1970s who fundamentally reshaped the US film industry, which powerful studio producers had reigned supreme.

He directed the film The French Connection, which won five Academy Awards.
