Japan resumes financial contribution to UNRWA

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa on Thursday held talks with the Commissioner-General of United Nations Relief and Works Agency(UNRWA) in Tokyo as a step towards resuming the country's financial contribution to the organization.
Yoko said Japan’s contribution to UNRWA is a valuable resource funded by taxpayers. She said it is important to strengthen the agency’s governance to ensure that Japan’s assistance is not used for terrorist activities. And, the two sides confirmed that they will advance final coordination about necessary efforts to resume Japan’s contribution.
