Peace Dialogue: SG receives peace delegations of UWSP, NDAA & SSPP

Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received peace delegations led by Vice-Chairman of the United Wa State Party (UWSP) U Lau Yaku, Vice-Chairman U San Pae of the National Democratic Alliance Army-NDAA and Vice-Chairman-2 Sao Khun Sai of the Shan State Progress Party-SSPP at Bayint Naung Villa in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday to discuss peace issues.

On the occasion, the Senior General clarified about practicing genuine multi-party democratic system, endeavoring for building a Union based on democracy and federalism as the political goal, efforts for achieving peace talks by successive governments, the requests of the ethnic armed organizations to hold peace talks, willing to make discussion in detail and an open manner for the things that are really necessary and possible for the region and the country and further implementation of peace process based on the 2008 State Constitution and the nationwide ceasefire agreement.

Later, the Vice Chairman of UWSP and NDAA and the Vice Chairman-2 of SSPP expressed their appreciations on the invitation of the SAC Chairman the Commander-in-Chief to implement internal peace process and development with farsightedness through peace dialogue.

They also said maintaining the non-disintegration of the Union, the non-disintegration of the national solidarity and the perpetuation of sovereignty of the nation without separation from the State, constantly efforts for regional peace and stability and development and only willing to solve discords by peaceful discussion instead of using weapons, practicing multi-party democratic system and the same visions on building a Union based on democracy and federalism and also reported regional development.

The Senior General and the peace delegations also exchanged views on peace issues and regional development affairs. After the meeting, the Senior General presented commemorative gifts to the representatives of peace delegations who returned regional gifts to the Senior General. The peace delegations will continue peace talks with the Peace Talks Team and the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiate Committee formed with SAC members.
