As some parts of the Mandalay Palace Wall are getting damaged due to the natural disasters including earthquake, the renovation processes are being conducted by Department of Archaeological Research (Mandalay branch) without harming the ancient structures and architectural works to retain historical values.

Assistant Director, Department of Archeological Research, Aung Soe, said " The North-East corner 1 of Mandalay Palace wall is being renovated by maintaining ancient structures and architectural works. As the Mandalay Palace was the royal residence of Myanmar Kings in the past, we preserve Mandalay wall to retain historical culture for the new generations. As the Palace wall is over 100 years old, it was damaged by natural disasters."

Currently, the damaged walls and floors of the North-East corner 1 of the wallis being renovated with the technical assistance of the Federation of Myanmar Engineer Societies. To enhance the durability of the wall, the floor and footing is being fixed using RC techniques. The drains are installedto prevent erosion and damaging the walls.

There are also 25 guard posts on the wall. Therefore, weight of the guard posts can impact on the walland caused the damages, so the wall is reinforced with brick layering to reduce their weight.
