

The Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is implementing Seed Processing Plant in ShweBo District of Sagaing Region.
With the assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the plant was built in the compound of ChePa Seed Farm in ShweBo.
It aims for the farmers to receive good quality seeds, and boost harvesting, as well as to achieve more market demands.
Among six townships in Shwe District, Type-A Seed Processing Plant was built in WetLet, Type-B in ShweBo, and Type-C in Depayin, TaZae and KhinOo respectively.
For Type-B Plant in ShweBo, it costs over 3.2 billion kyats including all infrastructure and equipment.
The project started in 2018-2019 fiscal year, and the Plant will start operation in coming December.
In-charge, Chepa Seed Farm, DOA, Sagaing Region, Min Swe said “This Seed Processing Plant was built with the aim to boost income for the farmers in Sagaing Region. There are 6 townships in ShweBo District such as ShweBo, WetLet, Depayin, TaZae, YayOo and KhinOo. Farmers can earn more incomes as they can produce quality products by using the quality seeds.”
Over 1.8 million acres of monsoon paddy plantations have been grown in Sagaing Region. Among them, ShweBo District have already grown over 360,000 acres of paddy.
