French referee Stephanie Frappart will make history on Thursday when she steps onto the pitch at the Al-Bayt Stadium in Al Khor ahead of the Group E game between Germany and Costa Rica. The 38 year-old official will become the first woman to take charge of a men's World Cup match.

She was the fourth official for the Mexico versus Poland match in Group C at Qatar 2022. Frappart will lead an all-female on-field team for the Germany-Costa Rica game, with Brazil's Neuza Back and Karen Diaz Medina of Mexico assisting.
