Regarding the earthquake disaster that struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025, it has been officially announced that search and rescue operations, as well as emergency response efforts, are being closely supervised by the Head of State, with both domestic and international cooperation.

Currently, to effectively carry out debris clearance, temporary shelter arrangements, initial rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts across all sectors, the National Natural Disaster Management Committee has established the Disaster Management Center (DMC) and assigned responsibilities accordingly.

A coordination meeting of the DMC was held on March 31, led by the Vice-Chairman (1) of the National Natural Disaster Management Committee.  During the meeting, Vice Chairman (1) of the National Natural Disaster Management Committee, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt. Gen.

Tun Tun Naung, stated that casualty figures including deaths, injuries, and missing persons are being verified and released. Search and rescue teams in affected areas have successfully rescued 643 survivors and recovered 439 bodies.

He instructed relevant departments to provide temporary shelters for affected civilians, ensure access to drinking water, food, and sanitation, quickly assess and address housing damage for government staff, facilitating relocation where necessary, set up temporary offices for ministries to continue operations, restore electricity through temporary measures and strengthen security measures in respective sectors.

Following this, Vice Chairman (2) of the National Committee reported that 1,056 international rescue personnel from China, India, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia have arrived and are efficiently conducting search and rescue operations across various locations.

These teams include medical units coordinating with the Ministry of Health.
