Illegal trade: Timbers, foodstuffs, vehicles seized

Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, illegal trade is effectively prevented and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
On 24 April, the illegal timbers weighing 19.485 tonnes were captured in Pathein, Kyonpyaw, Hinthada and Laputta districts. On 25 April, three vehicles heading to Toungoo from Hap-an and to Yangon from Myawady, carrying 39 kinds of goods including 1,800 bags of Wai Wai instant vermicelli and 5,400 boxes of Lactasoy soy milk at the Thanlwin Bridge (Tayokhla-side), 11,260 kilogrammes of China made GI Hollow pipes from six containers were seized at the Myanmar Industrial Port, a Yutong bus heading to Nay Pyi Taw from Mawlamyine, carrying two kinds of goods including 10 sets of washing machine from China at the Nyaungkhashay x-ray station and illegal teak weighing 1.548 tonnes and illegal hardwood weighing 10.889 tonnes in Toungoo districts.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 23 arrests were made on 24 and 25 April, with an estimated value of 225 million.
